Making Changes

A lot of changes have been happening in my life lately. I am not one who does very well with change. I fall into routines and get very comfortable. I don't like it when something messes up my routines. First of all, I just finished my LAST undergrad courses ever! I will be moving onto student teaching in a couple of months. I feel like college flew by, and I don't know how to feel now that it is basically over. I will be out in the real world before I know it, and that is a scary feeling.
I am no longer living at Millersville. I am currently in the process of moving out of the apartment I've lived in for two years! Moving back in with my family is another big change that is going on in my life. And, moving out of my apartment means moving away from my roommates and best friends. I have had so much fun these last two years and it is so sad that I won't be living with my friends anymore.
I have shared a room at home with my sister for the last few years. It hasn't been a big deal, since I lived at school most of the year anyway. Now that I am moving home, I need a space of my own! My parents are kindly letting me turn our dining room into my own space, and I couldn't be more thankful! But, that's yet another change in my life.
All of these changes have been pretty overwhelming. For someone who does not do well with change, this has been a lot for me to deal with! So, I thought I would share a couple of tips that have helped me out so far:
1. Establish New Routines: Because I am someone who loves her routines, I need to establish new ones in order to be comfortable with all of these changes going on around me. So, I have been working out a schedule with my mom of when we will go to the gym together throughout the week. It is something small, but it is a little routine that will keep me sane through everything that is going on!
2. Have Fun with the Changes: Although these changes are overwhelming, they are exciting and fun! Decorating my new room is going to be a blast (blog posts to come!!) and I am very excited! It is a lot for me to move out of my apartment and into a room I have never lived in before, but I am going to make the most of it and be thankful that my sister and I have spaces of our own!
3. Make Healthy Choices: I tend to make unhealthy choices when I am stressed out. For example, stress eating is always a huge problem for me. These changes can be stressful, so I am as mindful as possible about making healthy choices. I'll grab a bottle of water instead of a soda, or I'll go to the gym instead of watching 9 episodes of Grey's Anatomy in a row. Once I get into a healthier routine, I feel less stressed anyway.
I hope I could help anyone else who is going through a lot of changes in their lives right now. I know these changes don't seem that major, but for someone who doesn't like change, they can be very stressful and overwhelming. I am taking it one day at a time and making the most out of these changes that are all happening to me at once. If you enjoyed this post, give it a like, leave a comment, and subscribe!
